Hello, I’m Katiya 

Aspire to inspire before we expire.

 

Who are you and what's your background?

I’m a mother of two growing boys and an entrepreneur at heart. I started my career 15+ years ago helping startups and small businesses nationwide with their technology, operations, marketing, and sales. Working closely with business owners and collaborating with their staff provided me with the opportunity to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the different functions of an organization. Up-to-date, I have acquired many talents such as website development, graphic design, video editing, writing, speaking, and event hosting. However, online social selling is much more important and interesting to me because I get to build relationships with professionals all over the world!

Why and how did you become a LinkedIn coach?

I graduated college in 2006 and entered the workforce that fall. In the following year, I remember anxiously waiting in line for the first iPhone. Like many others, it put the internet in everyone’s pocket and that was a powerful and exciting thing to me. I like to count this as my first smartphone user experience because it made me realize the possibility of taking relationship-building to the cloud. However, it had me pondering on how to make the cloud journey meaningful not only to me, but to other users, too (e.g., customers, co-workers, boss). This curiosity led me to volunteer as the beta user for productivity apps such as Office 365, G Suite, Dropbox, Paper Tiger, Basecamp, Zapier, Trello, Asana, Todoist, IFTTT, Evernote, Calendly, Pipedrive, etc.

When the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Covid-19 in March of 2020, I noticed in a matter of a few days most businesses and working professionals struggled with building new relationships and nurturing existing ones. Immediately, I set a goal to social sell on LinkedIn with the intention of connecting with people that matter to me (e.g., entrepreneurs, editors, influencers, executives, writers, speakers, certified financial planners). My investigation and experimentation put me on the screen for an additional 30+ hours per week outside of my regular day job. My social selling journey was a total of three months with at least a dozen sleepless nights. My LinkedIn network increased from 300+ friends and families to 3,000+ meaningful business connections! It’s not about the number that makes me proud; it’s about the professionals that I’ve intentionally connected with who are qualified leads and/or supporters of my future growth. As of July, 2021, I have proudly completed one year of pro-bono work helping financial professionals and business owners with their own virtual relationship-building challenges. Now, I’m on a mission to share the best of what I’ve learned to help others feel more rewarded and productive on their social selling journeys.

I want people to experience that it’s possible to create and deepen business relationships all online, without ever having to meet in-person. LinkedIn is the #1 social channel for working professionals! I would hate to see more people miss out on significant networking opportunities because they still think (through no fault of their own) that in-person is the only way to do business and build important relationships. The world has gone virtual and hybrid environments are here to stay, so let’s be efficient and effective in both – utilizing LinkedIn’s robust platform, in the most advantageous way.

What makes your social selling program different from others?

Coaching on social selling (or on anything) is most effective 1 on 1,even if my students are from the same organization. I like to tailor my lessons to speak to each person’s individual strengths and personality because everyone grows and shines differently.

My approach is strategic and tactical and I hold my students accountable for progress. The student journey is more about learning than completing tasks. My training strategy is to be all-inclusive to accommodate to the different learning styles of each student.

I’m not a believer of sending my students to a login, with an online course of pre-built lessons, with the expectation for them to figure out how to best learn on-demand. As the coach, I believe in making the social selling journey a meaningful experience, similar to a successful employee onboarding process or an effective business development workshop. Since it’s a journey, the program includes journaling, so that when the journey is over, my students can take their digital notebook wherever their work-life endeavors may take them.

I think my coaching philosophy aligns well with organizations that make it a high priority to invest in employee development. I know how busy working people can get with their everyday workloads, so my motto for moving progress along and celebrating incremental success is: I will do it ‘for’ you (DIFY), do it ‘with’ you (DIWY), and watch you do it ‘yourself’ (DIY). As your LinkedIn coach, just because I make the journey look easy, doesn’t mean that it wasn’t heavy.

We’ll collaborate closely each week, connecting at least once prior to our scheduled Zoom working session, so that we don’t lose sight of what this program can do to help you get to your goals. The purpose of the coaching program is to help students with virtual relationship-building + social selling strategies on LinkedIn using a human + technology methodology to expand personal/company brand reach. My students not only gain my LinkedIn networking wisdom, but they also learn helpful technology, lead generation, marketing, event planning, content development, research, communications, and operations improvement insights and strategies.

One last thing. I try to make myself accessible 24/7 via text, e-mail, phone call – especially through LinkedIn messaging. Typically, my students will hear from me even when I’m on vacation.

Is this program only for sales and marketing people?

This program is for all working professionals (Baby Boomers, Millennials, Gen X/Y/Z, etc.) who are interested in boosting their social selling skills in a meaningful and productive way.
